Newark Nov 17 1849
My Lord Duke
I have holden the rent
days for Michaelmas, and have directed
my bankers to remit to your Grace's account
with Messrs. Coutts & Co the sum of £2700.
I have heard with much regret what
a severe attack your Grace has been suffering
under, and trust you will soon be raised
up in health and strength. There have
been cases of Cholera here, and almost
every one which got to an advanced stage
was fatal - 20 or more have died
